Meet Mr. G
Mr. G’s Aviary was founded by a lifelong animal lover, educator, mentor, and passionate bird enthusiast who believes caring for birds is more than a hobby — it is a calling.
Born from years of hands-on experience raising and caring for birds, the aviary reflects Mr. G’s calm spirit, patience, and natural ability to connect with animals. Friends, family, and fellow bird lovers have long admired the care and attention he gives to every bird, especially his beloved cockatiels and parakeets.
Outside of the aviary, Mr. G has spent decades serving the community as a School Counselor and Assistant Principal in Newark, New Jersey. His background in education and mentorship carries over into the way he works with customers — always willing to teach, guide, encourage, and help others feel comfortable learning about bird ownership.
A Passion Inspired by Culture and Family
As a proud Trinidadian American, Mr. G brings warmth, humor, hospitality, and vibrant energy into everything he does. The aviary is built on family values, compassion, and creating a welcoming environment where people can experience the joy birds bring into everyday life.
Beyond birds, Mr. G is also passionate about two things deeply rooted in his Caribbean heritage: food and music.
Known among friends and family for creating delicious Trinidadian dishes full of bold flavor and tradition, cooking has always been another way he brings people together. Whether sharing stories over a homemade meal or welcoming visitors with laughter and conversation, Mr. G believes food creates connection and community.
Music is equally close to his heart. A lifelong lover of “old skool” soca, calypso, steelpan, and parang music, Mr. G proudly keeps the sounds and culture of Trinidad alive wherever he goes. This passion is especially meaningful because it honors the memory of his late father, Lenox, who was well known for promoting Caribbean music and culture through lively community parties held at Afrika House in Brooklyn, New York.
Through those celebrations, Lenox created spaces where people could dance, laugh, celebrate their roots, and feel connected to home. Today, Mr. G continues that spirit through his love for birds, people, food, music, and culture.
What started as a personal passion gradually grew into a vision for a community-centered aviary where birds are raised with care and customers are treated like family.
